ANOTHER BIG INVESTMENT IN LUBLIN – THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE IKEA CENTRE

Today’s symbolic laying of a cornerstone has become an official statement that yet another big investment in Lublin is becoming a reality and... is gaining speed.

​The tenth IKEA store in Poland shall be built in Lublin. Its location in the Lubelskie province is well justified:

​- It is incredible how fast Lublin is developing, we already have an airport, we keep building new roads, and today we are announcing the start of another big investment, the construction of the IKEA shopping centre – said the President of IKEA Retail in Poland, Anna Pawlak-Kuliga.

The number ten is not as impressive as the data presented below:
​- 58 000 m2, the equivalent of 8 soccer fields – such will be the area of the IKEA centre in Lublin, said Mr Jacek Kardaszewski, Head of the Ikea Centres Polska Project.

​IKEA in Lublin shall operate based on renewable resources – the electricity shall be obtained from wind turbines, and the power to the store shall come from geothermal sources. In line with the Swedish philosophy, the centre will be surrounded by large areas of greenery, and the whole investment will fit well in the natural terrain. The project will be modest in form and therefore user friendly – he adds.

​The manager has pointed to another advantage – we use the support of local companies, all the cooperating companies have at least a branch in and around Lublin – those are the suppliers of goods, companies involved in the roads construction, etc.
What IKEA also means are new jobs, and lots of them – about  400. 



– The store alone shall employ around 200 people, and around the site there will be at least the same amount of new posts. I hear very often that IKEA is a much demanded store in Lublin - says Monika Kosińska, the Store Manager of IKEA Lublin.
​- We have already started recruiting for managerial posts. Our jobs offer a stable employment – work contracts only. We offer a broad array of benefits. Who do we look for? Ambitious people, who are able to work in a group and share our passion; we also value variety – she adds.

​- We have waited a long time for this investment. IKEA is expertly carrying out the social functions, and at the same time shows the cross-border character of Lublin. This investment is also coherent with the city’s development strategy. IKEA is a splendid brand which, having blended into the city, shall enhance its reputation and investment attractiveness - Krzysztof Żuk, Mayor of the City of Lublin.




- The investment means new jobs,as well as meeting the  needs of consumers. Additionally, it is yet another investment, which have been our priority over the years. Lubelskie is open towards new investments - states Vice-Marshal of the Lubelskie province, Krzysztof Grabczuk.

The IKEA store in Lublin shall commence its operations in Autumn 2017!
