Cooperation agreement signed between the Lubelskie Voivodeship and the Polish Basketball Association (PBA).
The Lubelskie-PBA cooperation agreement is the first agreement of its kind between the local government and the federation. The purpose of the cooperation between the Lubelskie Voivodeship and PBA is to create opportunities to present the potential of the Lubelskie region to event participants, basketball fans as well as regional, national and international media organizations during the tournaments organized by the PBA.
The agreement foresees qualifications for Europe Cup 2021 and friendly matches of the World Cup China 2019, to take place in Poland at the time of the Basketball World Cup China 2019 (31 August-15 September 2019).
The value of this contracted agreement amounts to over 1.2 million PLN and it will be valid until the end of November 2020. The marketing promotion of the Lubelskie Voivodeship will be carried out during at least the next 17 matches of the Polish National Basketball Team, including those at the upcoming World Cup in China.
Friendly matches of the Polish National Team will be held in the following places:
- 08.08 -12.08 Prague (against Jordan, Tunisia, Czech Republic)
- 15.08-19.08 Hamburg (against Czech Republic, Germany and Hungary);
- 21.08 Globus Sports Hall in Lublin (against the Netherlands);
- 24.08-27.08 China (against Iran, Nigeria and Montenegro).
Matches during the World Cup:
- 31.08 - Poland - Venezuela
- 02.08 –Poland - China
- 04.08 - Poland - Ivory Coast
(additional matches dependent upon the team’s advancement to the further stages of the tournament).
Matches during the eliminations to FIBA EuroBasket 2021 (the Europe Cup):
- 20th February 2020: Poland - Israel;
- 23th February 2020: Poland - Spain;
- 27th November 2020: Poland - Slovakia /Cyprus/ Romania
- 30th November 2020: Poland - Israel
The broadcasting rights to the Polish National Basketball team’s games will be held by TVP S.A. until 2020. It has been initially estimated that the game against China - in the role of the World Cup’s host nation - to take place on 2nd September 2019, will have a global audience of over 800 million viewers.
