Rail

The railway line No. 2, which is a part of the international E20 line, which is part of the 2nd Pan-European West-East Transport Corridor, connecting Berlin with Moscow, runs through the Lubelskie Voivodeship. The location of stops along the route, not only for passengers but also for goods, in the area of the Biała Podlaska poviat is of significant importance for the region. Due to the high importance of the line, it was covered by the "European Agreement on Main International Railway Lines" and the European Agreement on Major Combined Transport Lines and Accompanying Facilities, thanks to which Poland committed itself to the rapid modernization of this route.

Seeing prospects for the development of international transport, the region has a perfectly functioning border crossing point Małaszewicze, covering an area of over 166 ha. It serves as a transhipment port of international importance. The specificity of this crossing is the possibility of reloading goods through the interaction of two transport systems with different track gauges: European (standard-gauge) 1.435 mm and Asian (wide-gauge) 1.520 mm. This is of great importance for the investor, who thus has an easier exchange of goods with eastern markets. Dry Port Kolejowy in Małaszewicze breaks records for accepting cargo deliveries from Asia. It is here that the Logistics Park is to be built, which will ultimately be the most modern and largest transshipment hub in Europe.

An important railway line in the voivodeship is line no. 7 running on the route: Warszawa Wschodnia - Otwock - Dęblin - Lublin - Chełm - Dorohusk (the state border with Ukraine).

Lublin has direct rail connections with almost all regions of the country, and thanks to the continuous modernization of the railway infrastructure and the replacement of rolling stock, the journey time to the capital of the country is to be up to 90 minutes.

The Lublin Agglomeration Railway is to increase access to railways for the region's inhabitants. PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. signed an agreement with the Lublin self-government regarding the development of railway connections within the Lublin Agglomeration Railway. The cooperation is to result in a program and spatial concept leading to the construction of new stops and railway lines. The platforms will be adapted to the needs of people with reduced mobility. In addition to the stops, it will be possible to create transfer nodes - integrating railways with other means of public transport. Construction works are scheduled for 2021–2027.
